our first place

Now that May is just around the corner, THE month, John and I are ready to sign our lease on our first place together!  May 1st we officially get the apartment - John will be moving in this week which means having him close to work on wedding plans...and just see him even more :) I am so excited to start organizing all our kitchen items.  It hasn't quite hit me that it will be our very own kitchen, living space, etc.  For a girl who has never lived away from home, it will be different but exciting.  And John is pretty stoked about having a bachelor's pad for about three weeks, haha.

A huge thanks again to all the ladies who came to my shower last Saturday!  It was such a blessing to be supported by so many wonderful people.  John and I appreciate it so much.  And a huge thanks to all who worked to put the shower on.  They did such an incredible job, I can't express my thanks enough.  I love you all!

On the agenda today:  moving into Caribou for the day.  John has finals for school right now so I tagged along with him and am working on wedding details.  Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon <3

Wedding t-minus 27 days!

It's a comin'

I've had people tell me it will come before we know it...and I'm starting to realize this.  I think I get more excited with each day...!

Planning is still coming along, but I feel like there is still LOTS to do.  John and his creativity are designing our invitations and we're hoping to finish them this week!  We went back and forth with different ideas but I think we're settled on it now.  300 + envelopes getting stuffed and addressed this week is the main goal!

The next thing on the list is flowers - we may end of doing several different kinds and colors since it's hard to choose just one.  Hoping to get that detail finalized soon, as well.

I've created about my 5th to do list for the wedding...time to get some more crossed off!

~ 47 days and counting! ~

Snowed In

Okay, it's official.  I'm not the greatest at keeping up a blog.  I do want to get better at it so hopefully my determination is kicked into high gear.  Today John and I found ourselves snowed in at my Mom's house after a nice snow fall last night, so I'm finding time today to get another post up!

Even though it has been quite awhile since I last posted, John and I have been able to get more wedding details accomplished!

-  We now have our photographer booked.  Thank you, Abby Johnson!
-  We finalized our location for the ceremony and reception.  Just working on the layout of it all.
-  Looked into a dress for my flower girl and wasn't able to find anything.  But thankfully my sister-in-law came to the rescue and offered to make the dress so I'm in the process of finding a cute pattern!
-  We've worked on our honeymoon details...getting ideas :)
-  And one of our biggest accomplishments was...finding our first place together!! John will be moving into our apartment the beginning of May so it will be really nice to start moving things over, store our gifts there, and have our very own home to come back to after the honeymoon.  May REALLY can't come soon enough!

Till the next snow day ;)

Couple of Stuff

A new week is upon us!  That means back to school and work for us.  But, it also means more time to get wedding details done!  John has created excel spreadsheets and databases for us to keep track of the guest list, our budget, to do items, etc.  I can pretty much just open the programs so I'm very thankful for a smart Fiance :)

This week will hopefully include:

-  Finalizing a location for the ceremony and reception
-  Getting some ceremony details done
-  Finding my shoes - alterations on my dress next Saturday!
-  Meeting with photographer
-  Finalizing bridesmaids dresses
-  Anything else I had down that has slipped my mind at the moment!

We'll see how it goes!

Someday came...

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for visiting our wedding blog!  This is my first attempt at creating a blog so please bear with me on this.  Most of you already know the story of "Us", but I thought it would be fun to update you all on our wedding planning.  What better way to start than telling you about our New Year's Eve of 2011.

So there I was...cooking holiday meatballs in the Macy's kitchen.  John planned for us to hang out with his sister and my siblings at his house for the night so we started getting ready by making some food.  John came in and told me that he had a surprise for everyone else but he needed my help on it.  I was told to meet him at the downstairs back door at 6:30.  It briefly entered my mind that he could be proposing but since it was for everyone?  Probably not.  We played some rounds of Bananagrams and before we knew it, it was 6:30.  So John and I got bundled up and headed outside.

The night was absolutely beautiful.  It couldn't have been a better December evening.  We made our way up to the back part of Macy's property and came to a quaint little spot on top of a hill.  Underneath a tarp was a fire pit with wood and two chairs.  John got the fire going and then had me sit down on the chair.  He asked if he would need to blind fold me or if I would be good and not look behind me.  I said I would be good.  I started hearing him drag something around and make all this noise...I was so confused!  Finally he came back and put his hat on over my head and eyes.  He led me back behind the fire and down the hill a little.  And then...he took the hat off.  All  I could seem amidst the dark, evening sky was letters lit up by the fire saying "Will you marry me?"  John had carved the letters out of a 2 x 4 piece of wood and set it up in front of the fire.  I couldn't believe it!  I looked over and John was down on one knee.  I'm sure you all can guess my answer was YES!  I was so excited and couldn't wait to tell everyone.  Little did I know, that when we got back to the house a little later...our friends had come over and surprised me.  They thought it was a New Year's Eve surprise.  It was such a fun way to tell everyone our news!

After two and a half years together...our "someday" came :)
