Hi Everyone! Thanks for visiting our wedding blog! This is my first attempt at creating a blog so please bear with me on this. Most of you already know the story of "Us", but I thought it would be fun to update you all on our wedding planning. What better way to start than telling you about our New Year's Eve of 2011.
So there I was...cooking holiday meatballs in the Macy's kitchen. John planned for us to hang out with his sister and my siblings at his house for the night so we started getting ready by making some food. John came in and told me that he had a surprise for everyone else but he needed my help on it. I was told to meet him at the downstairs back door at 6:30. It briefly entered my mind that he could be proposing but since it was for everyone? Probably not. We played some rounds of Bananagrams and before we knew it, it was 6:30. So John and I got bundled up and headed outside.
The night was absolutely beautiful. It couldn't have been a better December evening. We made our way up to the back part of Macy's property and came to a quaint little spot on top of a hill. Underneath a tarp was a fire pit with wood and two chairs. John got the fire going and then had me sit down on the chair. He asked if he would need to blind fold me or if I would be good and not look behind me. I said I would be good. I started hearing him drag something around and make all this noise...I was so confused! Finally he came back and put his hat on over my head and eyes. He led me back behind the fire and down the hill a little. And then...he took the hat off. All I could seem amidst the dark, evening sky was letters lit up by the fire saying "Will you marry me?" John had carved the letters out of a 2 x 4 piece of wood and set it up in front of the fire. I couldn't believe it! I looked over and John was down on one knee. I'm sure you all can guess my answer was YES! I was so excited and couldn't wait to tell everyone. Little did I know, that when we got back to the house a little later...our friends had come over and surprised me. They thought it was a New Year's Eve surprise. It was such a fun way to tell everyone our news!
After two and a half years together...our "someday" came :)
